I was passing by, on my way to the Art Institute to buy Nighthawks postcards for my 826CHI workshop tomorrow, when I thought I recognized Welch's distinctive coif of naturally spikey hair running along the middle of his head. He was seated by a young lady, blonde and bespectacled, and I immediately thought, "Aha, it is the farechicken!" I did have my moment of thinking, "Boy, I sure hope it's them." For some reason I always experience cognitive dissonance when I don't see someone for a long time. Once in a while I've tried to conduct too-familiar conversations with people who, as it turned out, I didn't know from Adam, leading them to ask, "Is there something wrong with you?"Hoorah, it was them! We chatted, and while I'd describe
farechicken as a little cold, I only mean it in the sense that she was obviously freezing, due to our wonderful Chicago winter weather (though lately it's been practically pleasant, compared to other Januarys). Wear a heavier coat, missy! She informed me that as I passed by, she thought, "Hey, that looks like mrdankelly!" As it turned out, it WAS mrdankelly, but... but... that's impossible!
