It might seem ridiculous to bid $1,000 on a 78 record, but the title almost justifies it.

And no, I'm not bidding on this. Though I joyously received my new portable phonograph last night.

Just goes to show that some people have more money than common sense.

Good lord... I'd keel over if I spent more than $10 on a record. (That's probably why my record collection is so small and crummy, but still...)

P.S. That is a mighty fine portable record player. If mine ever bites the dust (a 1968 Audiotronics), I will definitely be looking for a Califone.

I got mine through this guy, and relatively on the cheap. Though I did bid on it after another one of his auctions wrapped up. The "winner" of that auction shelled out an extra twenty bucks. Har har!

I hear you. My collection is likewise dinky—generally, the most I'll pay is a buck. Though I did pay $15 for an old old Fred Van Eps record once.

Though I can see how the above record is historically important. Shade founded the Memphis Jug Band.
